My Spring Flings: things i'm lusting for this spring/summer!

Howdy Sassparilla's! So Spring is officially here and with each new season, comes new products, or styles that i'm dying to try out. I've compiled my most recent list to share with you all. Lets dive into it shall we?

1. The Perfume Saint Tropez by Smell Bent. Anyone who knows me knows I am obsessed with smelling like a coconut. Hair products, lotions, body sprays, and whatever else I can get my hands on. I love that smell. It just makes me feel all warm and beachy (which is my favorite way to feel) So while reading through the May issue of Lucky Magazine I ran across an ad for this perfume and my obsession in fueled once again. Hello My Name Is Jennifer and I am a COCONUT-AHOLIC!

2. Oxfords I absolutely love the look of these shoes! I love them paired with a super girly dress, the mix of the feminine dress/ masculine style of the shoe = MIND BLOWN heres a link to a few of my favorite pairs that I found.

3.  Copper eyeliner pencil I was looking for a new eye makeup product to add to my collection for the spring/summer that would enhance my green eye color as well and be out of the normal everyday browns and blacks I line my eye with. I found a really amazing copper pencil that does the trick.

4. Heart shaped sunglasses  Now let me just say sunglasses for me are something I collect. I could never have too many, I love funky styles and unique frame shapes. To me the heart shaped frames are just so adorable . I love the fun factor they bring to even the simplest outfit of a plain t and jeans look! Here are the links to my top picks :

5. Rompers!! I love fashion choices for spring and summer that are no brainers. I live in maxi dresses most of the summer but this year I really want to try out a romper! They are the complete outfit all on there own but also would look great belted with a statement belt, or made a bit dressier by adding a light fitted blazer for a night out!

I love these!

Beauty's View; An Interview With model Lina Sav

Hello all today I have a feature comletely new to A Class of Sass and I am very excited about it! Beauty's View will be an on going feature where I interview people within the beauty industry on their views on beauty, style, and life in general. My first feature is the Gorgeous Model Lina Sav who was kind enough to grant me this interview. I hope you all enjoy this blog post as well as the addition to this element of A Class of Sass.

For those not already familiar with Lina, she started modeling very young when her mother signed her up with a modeling agency in Russia, where she is originally from. As a child she was on many kids shows as well as other television programs. While Lina was in school she didnt have much time for modeling, but when she turned 17 she started traveling. Her first trip was to Europe(Brussels) and then she went on to move to Los Angeles. It was there that Lina transitioned into more on camera work. Currently she is on contract in Asia doing more print work than anything else.

A.C.O.S-What has been your most memorable modeling job thus far?
LINA-"Honestly, I dont think there is one job that stands out from the rest. All the shoots are pretty much different and unique, especially editorials. The makeup and colors they use are pretty intense. Sometimes I end up looking like a rainbow palette."

A.C.O.S- What are some valuable makeup tips that you have learned from makeup artists along the way?
LINA-"I learned that less is more. I dont even want to do my makeup unless I have a casting to attend. I also learned the importance of taking your makeup off and washing your face before bed. Using makeup wipes is not enough. Washing , using toner, then applying night cream is crucial."

A.C.O.S- Does modeling take a toll on your hair, and what do you do to keep it healthy ?
LINA- "Yes! my hair is destroyed from the constant hair curling, straightening, teasing, and hair spraying. (sometimes repeated multiple times during the same shoot) How do I keep it healthy? Its Practically impossible. I constantly have to trim my ends. I do tend to spend a little more money on my hair products, and take B complex vitamins. On the days I dont have a shoot, I dont touch my hair. I wash it and let it air dry.

A.C.O.S.- Do you work out regularly and if so what is your routine like?
LINA- "I dont work out as much as I should. Running is the best thing you can do to shed fat though. I believe a good diet is more important than sweating at the gym. When I need to lose a few pounds I cut out sugar. I eat very clean for the most part. I never eat fast food and try to cook at home as much as possible."

Sunday =Beauty Detox Day

Hello Sassparilla's happy Sunday to you all! Sunday is what I call my beauty detox day. It is the day where I wash away my week. I start the day by washing my hair of all products and really give it a good conditioning treatment, I do not blow dry it I just towel dry and leave it to air dry . Next I thoroughly cleanse my face and do a pore cleansing mask. Sundays I leave my face completely natural with no makeup just moisturizer and sunscreen. I remove my nail polish and leave my bare nails unpolished. I do not fuss over what to wear I either stay in my pjs or put on some leggings and a t-shirt  and really just relax! It may seem silly to do this to some people but to me there are many benefits and its really quite freeing. It's like recharging yourself for the upcoming week and it is pretty essential for me. Now don't get me wrong I I have an event to go to on a Sunday I'm not going to show up in my sweats and bunny slippers but I will tell you that if I don't have my Sunday beauty detox I find that it is really hard for me to get the week going with the same pep. So while I was going through my Sunday beauty detox routine today I thought to myself "I wonder if anyone else does this?" And hence a blog baby was born :) so how about it sassparilla's are any of you detoxing today?? What do you make sure to do?

My Style starting Lineup...

Hi sassparilla's happy Tuesday to you all! Todays Post is about my top five style influences as well who are all pretty iconic as far as im concerned. These five women have in some way shape or form influenced me in my style wether it be through fashion or beauty or both. Lets get the party going, shall we?

1. Marilyn Monroe- For myself and millions of women everywhere Marilyn Monroe signifies beauty. She was one of those women who just had the "it" factor. Everything about her , from her demeanor to the way she dressed just exuded sexiness. Marilyn was the ultimate girls girl to say the least. No one since has ever made, what was essentially a pretty basic white dress, blowing up over a sewer grate look so absolutely glamorous!

2. Stevie Nicks- Now I realize some of my followers here may be too young to know who Stevie Nicks is (which by the way is a damn shame) She is the lead vocalist from the band Fleetwood Mac. To me Stevie's style is pure mystical magic. Growing up with parents of the woodstock era, I remember looking at the album photo's of Stevie and thinking how amazing it must feel to twirl around on stage in her flowy dresses with long bell shaped sleeves and long tousled hair. Not to mention the voice of an angel! Her gypsy style speaks to the hippie portion of my soul!

3.Gwen Stefani- I started following Gwens style I would say my freshman year of highschool when her band No Doubt really became wildly popular. She was like this edgy tomboy that held onto her femininity through her signiture red lipstick. (which she still rocks proudly to this day) I love her eclectic style and her confidence to push the envelope.

4.Rachel Zoe-One word describes her style (and its one of hers) MAJOR. I don't know if there has ever been another woman on this planet who knows vintage design, or how to wear it, like she does. No one (and I say this with certainty) knows fashion like her. To me her vintage hippie chic look is an absolute dream. If I was able to have any persons closet on this planet as some sort of magical wish, I would choose Rachel's. Rachel Zoe's style is like a vintage work of art made relevant for todays day and age.

5. Nicole Richie- As a person Nicole is someone I really admire. Once upon a time I would have never said that, because lets face it she used to be somewhat of a train wreck. The Paris Hilton era did not wear well on my girl Nicole. It Wasnt good for her fashion sense or her common sense for that matter. Like most of us eventually do at some point she gave her life an overhaul and out emerged a bohemian style beauty! Her style evolved so much that House of Harlow 1960 was born, (for those that live under a fashion rock this is her own line) I just love how effortlessly cool she always looks, she never overcomplicates her wardrobe!

Thats my style starting lineup which is really nothing more than a ramble about my girl crushes lol but I hope you enjoyed it! Until next time ...

xoxo Jennifer

My Accessory DIY project!

Hey loves !

I am writing this post quite late on a Saturday night, because I couldn't wait to share with you all my lil' DIY that I just finished! I knew the kids and I actually had nothing major planned for the weekend (and thrilled about it) so we all hopped in the car and headed to AC Moore. I have been dying to start making my own funky little bib style necklace that are so on trend right now! I just love how they dress up the simplest of shirts/blouses. We ended up spending like 2 hours in ac moore because I am obsessed with their bits and baubles section, and as an added bonus most of the bead/charm items were 1/2 off. So I will just get on with the big reveal...

I Call her the "Meow kitty collar"

I had so much fun making this that I made myself a set of dangly spike earrings using the same spikes I used on the necklace.  I am over the moon obsessed with how the design concept translated from my crazy brain to the actual project outcome (that isnt always the case lol) So what do you all think? Have any of you ladies done anything like this? Comment below or leave me a photo comment with a diy project that you've completed recently and want to brag like I did:)

Until next time class keep up the Sass as always!!

Top Trends Of December

Drum roll please>>> My picks for the top trends of December have been chosen !!! yays ! It is no easy task to narrow down all the looks you love to just a few, but somehow I have focused my fashion a.d.d. to form this list . So without further ado ....

1. The gold glitter dress! They are everywhere right now and I adore them. Maybe it is the sparkle , maybe its the luxe look of the gold but whatever it is i'm hooked. Great look for a holiday party , or a night on the town. I personally love this look paired with a black opaque tight and a black Heel (or if your one of the tall who refuse to wear heels like me a black ballet flat) It just makes it look that much more luxurious! keep your accessories to a minimum with this outfit it comes with its own bling!

Smitten with Mittens or Glove Love

Aaah every winter brings the fashion question "to glove or to mitten?" Personally I am a girl who just loves a mitten! They are adorable and cozy and remind me of the ones are parents made us wear when  we were kids that were attached by a single knit cord and threaded through the sleeves of our jackets. But alas those were before the dawn of a  touch screen this or that, so what is a mitted girl to do ? I have bit the bullet and bought a pair of ugly touch screen gloves with the gray fingertips that are not one bit fashionable , but functional...eeew . So whilst contemplating my options I thought "There must be a better way!" So I let my fingertips lead the way to google in search of fashionable finger wear....and low and behold I may have found the answers to one of life's current mysteries < Can fingers remain fashionably toasty in an era of touchscreen?

aaaaaah we are getting warmer! I found these lil gems on www.zappos.com they are Ralph Lauren and Tres Chic!

And after searching and searching with no hopeful results I have to say I could not find one pair of touch screen mittens!! Why has the adorable mitten been overlooked by the finger fashion community ? while I do not have the answer, I did find some promising information. Touch Screen gloves work because your touch screen responds to static electricity from your fingertips, normal gloves and mittens block the static electricity from transmitting to our phones ! woah right lol . Any way I found a web site that has a way to make whatever gloves you chose touch screen compatible with a few stitches of conductive thread to the fingertips. ( I will link the site at the end , there is a video as well) So that got me thinking could it be done with mittens> I am going to order a sample of conductive thread and give it a try I think! I will let you know how things turn out! Until then I suppose I will have to go with the fashion forward touch screen glove.

Thanks for visiting a Class of Sass

Hair Care Do's And Don'ts for colored hair

Hello All,
So today I want to talk about Hair care do's and don'ts for those with colored Hair. I would like to state for the record that i am not an expert in hair care, I'm not a hairdresser, hair colorist etc.. I am just a girl who has dyed her hair every color of the rainbow without it all falling off or major breakage. With that said I get asked all the time how my hair stays so healthy because I dye it a different color quite often. By quite often I would say a completely different shade every 6 months or so. Before I get into my actual do's , don'ts and hair care routine i'm going to post a few pics of hair colors I've had in the last couple years so you Know how extensively I dye my hair. Hope this post is useful!

So firstly I only wash my hair once or twice a week at the most ( I shower people just dont wash my hair so don't freak) Washing your hair frequently is actually quite bad for it! So I would say wash it as little as you can get away with. There are a few things you can do to help not wash it so much I use a dry shampoo which basically just absorbs any oil you may want to get rid of and if you get one that smells nice its like a refresher for your hair. Another way I keep my hair from being washed is that my hairstyles vary depending on how close it is to shampoo day. What I mean by this is Day 1 I blow out my hair straight and leave it, day two I wear it curled, day 3 I wear it wavy , day 4 I wear it half up , and day 5 I put it up in a bun and day 6 I wash and start over. Now if you are not comfortable washing your hair only once or twice a week then just wash every other day or two days bottom line is just wash it LESS!

Another way to help your hair is to use a low sudsing shampoo, or break your shampoo down by using a 1/2 shampoo 1/2 conditioner mix. I have found that the more a shampoo suds up the worse it is for your hair.

On Day 5 when i put my hair up in the bun its for two reasons 1 is that its probably going to be too oily to wear down and because i have saturated it with a conditioning hair mask that I am going to leave on it until the next days shampoo. (I will list the products I personally use at the end)

Never Ever Skip a Heat protectant!!! I repeat never!....Use a spray , a creme, a mousse , whatever method you prefer just use it!

Don't brush your hair when its wet doing so causes breakage! I use a wide tooth comb with a spray conditioning treatment i make myself by just mixing a few squirts of whatever conditioner I am loving in a spray bottle fill it up shake it and spray it on your hair  if you have fine hair be careful not to use too much or your hair wont have any volume.

lastly if you can stand to do so let your hair air dry as much as possible before using heat . Reducing the time under the heat source will reduce the damage.

That's really all I do and my hair stays healthy even while I change the color constantly.

To Recap

1 . Wash hair as infrequently as possible
2.  Make sure if you are going to be using a hair styling tool that uses heat that you use a heat protectant
3.  Don't brush your hair while its wet , instead use a wide tooth comb.
4. Condition . condition. condition!!!!

Products I am currently using....

1.Tresemme Fresh Start dry shampoo for fine /oily hair
2. Organix Brazililan Keratin therepy flat iron/heat spray
3.Loreal Evercreme Deep nourishing mask
4. Garnier Fructis Sleek&Shine Morracan Argan Oil
